Borderlands for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 resurfaces in new ESRB listing

Game of the Year edition also down for PC.

If you've been itching to play the original Borderlands on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, it looks like your time may be nigh. A new listing for a Game of the Year edition on consoles and PC has been spotted on the ESRB website.

This isn't the first time that a modern-day Borderlands Game of the Year edition has been sighted, of course; it also popped up on the Korean Ratings Board last May.

A 2019 re-release for Borderlands would be particularly apt, given that developer Gearbox's much-loved loot-and-shooter is (slightly terrifyingly) celebrating a decade since its Xbox 360 and PS3 launch this year, having initially emerged all the way back in October 2009. A PC version launched in 2010, when Borderlands' first Game of Year edition arrived.

Just in case it gets removed.

Assuming the ESRB's new listing isn't the result of some weird admin error (which seems unlikely), this would be the first time that Borderlands 1 has made its way to Xbox One or PS4. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, featuring Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, hit both consoles in 2015, but the first game in the series was sadly omitted.

It stands to reason that a new Borderlands Game of the Year edition would feature the main game and all available DLC (that's The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx, and Claptrap's New Robot Revolution), but we'll obviously need official confirmation from Gearbox to be sure.

If I was a betting man, I'd put good money on any such confirmation arriving when Gearbox holds its PAX East panel next week, on March 28th. The developer has already heavily hinted at a Borderlands 3 reveal during the event.
