Borderlands 2 Mechromancer class releases today

For all platforms.

Borderlands 2's fifth character class the Mechromancer releases today, 9th October, Gearbox Software has announced.

That's for all platforms: PC, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 (for PS3 in Europe it'll probably go live tomorrow, Wednesday 10th October alongside the PS Store update, as Eurogamer reader Mike1980 points out). The class was due 16th October, so it's launching a week early.

The Mechromancer is free to those who pre-ordered the game, £7.99/800 Microsoft Points to everyone else.

Gaige the Mechromancer's special ability is to summon Deathtrap, a robot pet that does a decent job of tanking and dealing damage.

Gearbox has made her skill trees available online for you to mess about with ahead of time. The three paths are Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble and Ordered Chaos.
