BlizzCon 2011 dates announced

Blizzard has announced dates for BlizzCon 2011.

The annual fan event will take place in Anaheim, California on Friday, 21st October to Saturday, 22nd October.

Ticket pricing and ticket availability haven't been announced. Tickets sold out in the blink of an eye last year, but Blizzard offered a paid-for internet TV service as consolation for its millions of fans worldwide.

On to the burning question: what will Blizzard announce this year?

In 2009 it was World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm and the Monk class for Diablo III.

In 2010 it was the Demon Hunter class and PVP arena battles for Diablo III.

In 2011 will it be a Diablo III release date? Will it be the next expansion pack for World of Warcraft? Could it be a glimpse at the next instalment in the StarCraft II trilogy? Might Blizzard give a tantalising first scrap of information about its new MMO codenamed Titan?

Not that attendees of BlizzCon care a great deal. An enviable goody bag, developer panels, tournaments, dress-up competitions and a chance to play Blizzard's unreleased goods make BlizzCon a carnival of community. Last year Jack Black's band Tenacious D closed the event, following Ozzy Osbourne a year earlier.

This must be where all Blizzard's money gets to.

Diablo III.
