Big Ultra Street Fighter 4 patch due December

Edition Select online! Omega Mode! Ryu in a wolf costume!

Capcom will release a big patch for fighting game Ultra Street Fighter 4 in December.

Ryu in a wolf costume because why not?

The patch, due out shortly after the Capcom Cup tournament on 13th December, adds Edition Select online, new training mode trials and the long-awaited Omega Mode.

The update brings the game up to version 1.04.

Edition Select online lets players pick any version of a character from any version of Street Fighter 4 they've been in. As Peter "ComboFiend" Rosas points out on Capcom Unity, vanilla SF4 Sagat and AE Yun will no doubt be popular choices online.

As you'd expect, Edition Select is only available for unranked matches. You can turn it off in Custom Match search settings.

New training mode trials for Yun, Yang, Oni, Evil Ryu, Hugo, Elena, Decapre, Poison and Rolento are added with the update.

We've already gone over Omega Mode, which gives every character new specials and adjustments. The idea is Omega Mode is about fun, with balance thrown out of the window. Again, as you'd expect, it's only available in unranked matches.

Elsewhere, sweeping balance changes and bug fixes are included, as well as compatibility files for the Wild costumes. These costumes dress up Street Fighter's gargantuan cast as animals. Ryu gets a wolf costume, for example. Honda gets a turtle costume, which is funny because all Honda players are turtles lol.
