Amazon Prime Day 2022 gaming deals

What PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch deals we'd like to see in Prime Day 2022.

With Amazon Prime Day 2022 on its way, you'll soon be able to grab some of the latest PlayStation, Xbox and Switch games at bargain prices. We expect there'll be some great discounts on SSDs, SD cards, HDDs, gaming headsets and 4K TVs too.

While a Prime Day 2022 date is yet to be confirmed, we can still take a look at some of the highlights from last year, what we'd like to see in the sale this year and some early deals you might be able to bag ahead of the event. You can find out more info about the sale in our everything we know about Prime Day 2022 guide.

Nintendo Switch Prime Day deals

There were some great Nintendo Switch Prime Day deals last year. In the UK, the best of the bunch was the Nintendo Switch Neon Red/Neon Blue bundle with Mario Kart 8 for £289. If available again this year, this bundle might be even cheaper considering it went down to £259.99 on Black Friday.

We expect Amazon will put some other cheap Nintendo Switch bundles together for Prime Day 2022, too. We'd also like to see some decent Nintendo Switch Lite deals and some Nintendo Switch OLED bundles.

As far as games are concerned, we're hoping for a better selection of Prime Day Switch game deals in the UK this year. Right now, FIFA 22 Legacy Edition is reduced from £34.99 to £27.50 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokemon Legends Arceus is discounted from £49.99 to £39.99.

SanDisk microSDXC cards will likely be another sought-after Prime Day 2022 deal. The 400GB version recently went down to just £38.99 but you can still grab other sizes at discounted prices from the links below.

The Prime Day Switch game deals were arguably much better in the US as far as games were concerned, with Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 all getting deep discounts. We've listed a few current deals below for you early birds and will list more when Prime Day 2022 takes place.

PS5 Prime Day deals

As expected, there weren't many PS5 offers last year, though you could find a few games, accessories and SSD discounts. We're hoping there will be similar discounts on DualSense controllers, charging docks and the Pulse 3D wireless headset this year, as well as savings on PS5 compatible SSDs.

As you can probably guess, we don't expect there will be any discounts on standalone PS5 consoles. If Amazon plan to restock the PS5 over Prime Day, we'd be lucky with the console actually being in stock, a bundle at most.

There's plenty of PS5 games on the market now compared to last year, so we hope to see healthy discounts on even more titles. We'd also like to see the return of the DualSense + game bundles.

Over in the US, Returnal and Demon's Souls were both discounted to $50 each last year. Returnal is currently out of stock, although you can still grab Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake for cheaper than its Prime Day sale price from the link below.

Xbox Prime Day deals

Xbox Prime Day offers were a little light last year. A couple of Ubisoft titles popped up (Assassin's Creed Valhalla for £29.49/$22.99, Watch Dogs Legion for £21.99/$16.99, Immortals Fenyx Rising for £20.49) and Marvel's Avengers was cheap at £22.99/$24.99, but that was pretty much it.

The most exciting part of Prime Day for Xbox fans, at least in the UK, was the allocation of Series X stock that somehow managed to stay live on Amazon for a full 40 minutes. We hope to see more Xbox gaming deals this year and another restock wouldn't go amiss!

Prime Day SSD deals

Various SATA, NVMe and portable SSDs will most likely be discounted for Prime Day. Whether you were after a speedy storage boost for your PC or an external drive for more console game storage, there's usually plenty to choose from.

Highlights from last year were definitely the Crucial drives in their various forms (1TB Crucial MX500 for £67.99/ 2TB for £139.99) and the WD Blue for £51. The Crucial P2s were mega cheap too: £67.99 for the 1TB or £126.99 for the 2TB. A more detailed overview of the best Prime Day SSD deals is right here.

Prime Day hard drive deals

Mechanical drives are slower than their SSD counterparts but are often considerably cheaper and give you a great deal more storage space for the price. That said, they're always a hit when a sale comes round, and last year's Prime Day sale included some deep discounts on the Western Digital 1TB HDD (£36.99) 2TB (£53.99) 4TB (£81.99), and 5TB (£89.99)

Prime Day gaming headset deals

You can usually find decent gaming headset deals throughout the year at Amazon but if you're looking to save that little bit extra on a particular pair of cans, you'll be spoilt for choice in the Prime Day 2022 sale. The SteelSeries Arctis range is one of the better headset ranges that was featured in last year's sale and we expect there will be many more great gaming headset offerings this year.

Prime Day TV deals

Prime Day is a great time to snag a bargain on a brand new screen to support your new PS5 or Xbox Series X. Now that the LG C2 is out in the wild, we're hoping Prime Day 2022 will drop the price of LG C1. We'd also like to see more of Digital Foundry's best TVs for gaming in the sale.

Over in the US, you can currently grab the LG C1 OLED for cheaper than its Prime day price from the link below. If you're curious about comprising prices, you can get more info on the Prime Day TV deals highlights page.

Is there an Amazon Prime free trial?

Yes! If you haven't been a member before then you can sign up for an Amazon Prime free trial. This will give you 30 days of access to all membership benefits, including free next-day delivery, video streaming through Amazon Prime Video, freebies through Prime Gaming and a host of other services. Of course, most important for us here is the ability to take advantage of all the Amazon Prime Day deals!

You can sign up right here at Amazon UK or Amazon US. Just remember to cancel it before the 30 days pass to avoid being charged for membership. Or, you can keep it rolling, perhaps at a reduced cost if Amazon decides to discount the price of a year-long membership for Prime Day - something it has done in the past.
