Badland is getting remastered for consoles and PC

Game of the Year Edition due this spring.

Apple's 2013 iPad Game of the Year, Badland, is coming this spring to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Wii U, Vita, PC, Mac and Linux.

Better yet, it's getting a complete overhaul to look and play nicer than ever on the new platforms.

Dubbed Badland: Game of the Year Edition, this remastering will feature hand-painted graphics, redesigned controls to work with an analogue stick and triggers, and four times the content of the original game when it launched. This bulky product will consist of 100 single-player stages, 100 co-op levels, and 27 multiplayer maps that support up to four-player local multiplayer.

The developer even noted that it's "carefully tuned" each stage to accommodate the new controls scheme.

This is quite the undertaking for small Finnish studio Frogmind, which consists of some of the core former RedLynx staffers who worked on Trials Evolution. As such, it's getting help from a couple of other established studios.

Blitworks - the company that handled the PlayStation ports for Fez, Spelunky, Bastion, Don't Starve and more - is helping with the console conversions, while Trine developer Frozenbyte is assisting with QA, publishing and marketing.

Badland was downloaded by over 20 million people since its iOS launch in April 2013. How many do you reckon will buy it again in its new, enhanced edition?

Take a gander at how Badland: Game of the Year Edition looks in its glorious announcement trailer below.
