It wasn't until after I began recording this Thrones of Britannia let's play that I realised how difficult the save file I'd just selected was going to be. This late-game campaign features the kingdom of Northymbre, a faction that needs to carefully balance the needs of both the British population it's subjugating and the Viking army under its control. As you can see from the very start of this video, both sides are feeling pretty miffed in this particular playthrough.

In October 2015 Nora Al-Badri and Jan Nikolai Nelles walked into the Neues Museum of Berlin and together stole one of the world's most priceless artefacts: the bust of Queen Nefertiti. And, incredibly, they claim to have used Kinect to do it. It was the older model too, for the Xbox 360.

The Overwatch team has been talking a lot about toxicity recently, with game director Jeff Kaplan explaining that negative behaviour from players is starting to have a real impact on the game and its development.

PUBG's most iconic weapon isn't a shotgun, an assault rifle or an SMG. In fact, in most other contexts, you wouldn't even consider it much of a weapon at all, you'd probably just use it to make eggs. But here, in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, it carries a greater meaning, a higher purpose. Oh and also, if you stick it on your bum, it could very well save your life. I am, of course, talking about the frying pan.

This week sees the campaign maps for Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 being combined in a new mode called Mortal Empires. If you own both games, this'll arrive as a free update on Thursday, offering the most detailed Total War campaign to date. It'll also be offering the longest time between turns, but so far, that seems a sacrifice worth making.

How much have you spent on your Steam account, do you reckon? Even if it's a rough estimate, try and come up with a figure; it'll be a useful one to have in the back of your mind as we delve into today's episode of Here's a Thing because I imagine, if you've purchased multiple titles over multiple years, that number likely isn't a small one.

In October of 2008, Bethesda Game Studios released Fallout 3 and in doing so, changed the series forever. Gone were the 2D sprites, isometric camera and turn-based combat of the original games in favour of something the studio believed could appeal better to a larger, more mainstream audience. And well, the nearly five million units shipped during the game's launch week suggest they were probably right on that front, but still, there remains a substantial number of fans that to this day lament the loss of classic Fallout.

Earlier this month Bertie and I visited Obsidian Entertainment, the excellent, proudly independent role-playing game developer based in Irvine, California. There's plenty of history there, from the team's work on games like Pillars of Eternity, Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas to its genesis at Black Isle Studios.
