August's Twitch Prime games include SteamWorld Dig, Jotun, Death Squared

Plus Wizardry 6, 7, and 8.

Twitch has announced the line-up of games that Twitch Prime members will receive as part of their subscription in August, including Norse boss rush extravaganza Jotun, and comedy robot puzzler Death Squared.

Twitch Prime members will be able to download a total of seven games next month: SteamWorld Dig, Antihero, Death Squared, Jotun: Valhalla Edition, plus Wizardry 6, 7, and 8.

Developer Image & Form's SteamWorld Dig is probably the most immediately recognisable name on that list, and with good reason. Its compelling blend of Metroid-esque 2D platforming and procedural mining is a treat, even without the more hand-crafted approach of its sequel.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition and Death Squared are strong additions to Twitch Prime's August line-up too; the first comes from Sundered developer Thunder Lotus Games, and offers a Norse-inspired action-adventure focussed around finding and defeating five distinct bosses in order to enter Valhalla. Its hand-animated visuals look particularly gorgeous.

Death Squared, meanwhile, is wonderfully entertaining co-operative puzzle game for between 1 and 4 players, which sees participants attempting to navigate stages by working together to manipulate the environment. It's got a delightful Portal-esque sense of humour, and, perhaps more importantly, many hats for your beleaguered robot cubes.

As for Antihero, I've not played it personally, but its blend of strategy management and board game - in which you attempt to run a Thieves Guild in a Victorian-era city - certainly sounds intriguing. "Recruit street urchins, hire thugs, start a gang, upgrade your guild, steal everything," explains developer Tim Conkling, "and bribe, blackmail, and assassinate your way to victory". It features a story-driven campaign, AI skirmishes, plus online and offline PvP - and currently has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam.

Rounding off August's offerings are Wizardry 6, 7, and 8, which were the final three numbered entries in developer Sir-Tech's long-running and influential RPG series. These particular games, which released between 1990 and 2001, formed their own trilogy, providing a pleasingly complete package for fans of old-school adventuring.

Those with a Twitch Prime membership (which is included as part of an Amazon Prime subscription) can download all seven games for free between August 1st and August 31st.
