Witcher for consoles cancelled?

"We have no information," says Atari.

Rumours are flying that the console version of The Witcher has been thrown in the bin.

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf is (was?) in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 at CD Projekt. But sites such as Polygamia reckon it's been cancelled.

So has it? "We have no information about any change of status of this game," an Atari spokesperson told Eurogamer.

But it's not looking good. Gamebanshee reckons CD Projekt has binned a few other projects too, and started laying off staff.

Over on the Witcher forum, someone started a thread titled "Rise of the White Wolf cancelled?" PR and community manager Eriash popped in to say, "We will comment on this in official release soon." Oh dear.

It'll be a shame if The Witcher doesn't make it to consoles - the Enhanced Edition of the PC game scored a healthy 8/10 on Eurogamer, and not just because it came with a free map. Read our review for all the business.
