Welcome to Digital Foundry

It’s been a long time coming, but finally the Digital Foundry tech blog has been humanely re-homed and is ready to resume full service. For those new to the site, our aims are remarkably straightforward – to go beyond the gameplay, telling you how games work, what makes them tick, and of course, crucially, what levels of performance you can expect from them.

To that end, we’ve amassed a small panel of tech experts with proven track records in getting to the bottom of what makes games tick. We look to highlight the best in gaming technology, and critically appraise the standard bearing games and the engines that power them. While Eurogamer continues to champion the gameplay experience, Digital Foundry is more concerned about pure performance and technical analysis. To that end, our comments are backed up with the best possible performance metrics. We have access to the pure, unmolested digital outputs of PC, 360 and PS3: we can show you how well games run, what causes them to choke, and how responsive they will be. In short, in addition to our thoughts, we give you data to make up your own minds about the performance element of the games you play.

We’ve been doing this for a while now, but now, thanks to Eurogamer, our work can now reach a whole new audience, so feel free to peruse the blog posts below, and also check out these bespoke features and articles we have produced. The highlights, if you will.

The icing on the cake? Rather generously, Eurogamer has given us access to their beautiful content management system plus the brilliant EGTV video player. Moving here not only solves our very real bandwidth issues with our old host, but also gives us access to the best streaming video in the games arena, including Eurogamer’s brand new HD service (the best streaming high def video around!). And as a pleasant side-effect, I also get to see all that cool embargoed material you won't read for ages. I like it here already...
