Warzone best MG 82 loadout: Our MG 82 class setup and how to unlock the MG 82 explained

Looking for a new LMG to try? Create the best Warzone MG 82 loadout with our class set up recommendation.

The MG 82 in Warzone is one of the new weapons introduced in Warzone Season 4, alongside the C58 and Nail Gun.

Presenting itself as a frightening LMG in terms of fire rate and decent recoil, the weapon makes for a welcoming addition to the Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War roster.

A few days after the start of Season 4 this daunting potential got nerfed by developer Raven, reducing overall damage, range and both horizontal and vertical control. The LMG continues to be rather powerful still, but it's worth keeping it in mind.

This page will cover how to unlock the MG 82 in the quickest way possible, and our the best MG 82 loadout and MG 82 class recommendations after the changes.

How to unlock the MG 82 in Warzone

At launch, the MG 82 could be acquired by purchasing shop blueprints or just by leveling up the battle pass.

After Season 5, to unlock the MG 82 in Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War, you must kill 3 or more enemies without reloading across 15 different completed matches, LMGs of course.

While it's not as convenient as not having to complete a challenge, it's not a hard one by any means. LMGs, by nature, are powerhouses that can take down several enemies swiftly without the need to reload.

The requirement to do this across 15 matches is the time consuming part. However, any 24/7 modes available or Team Deathmatch playlists will give you just enough time to pull this off without the need to overstay your welcome in longer match types.

If you're opting for Warzone instead, we recommend sticking to Plunder mode, as you'll be able to revive in case things go south before you can complete the task.

Best Warzone MG 82 loadout and attachments

Below are our recommendations for an optimal MG 82 loadout:

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor (Unlocks at level 46)
  • Barrel: 17.1" Match Grade (Unlocks at level 39)
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x (Unlocks at level 7)
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip (Unlocks at level 41)
  • Ammunition: Fast Mag (Unlocks at level 16)

The Agency Suppressor continues to be one of the best muzzle attachments in Warzone, and it's no exception here. Alongside sound suppression to try and mitigate the weapon's noisy nature, it comes with an increase to bullet velocity, damage range and vertical recoil control. Both the aiming stability and aim down sight speed will be affected slightly in return, but not to a worrying extent.

Onto the barrel. The 17.1" Match Grade enhances the increase to both bullet velocity and damage range from the muzzle, as well as adding both vertical and horizontal control. The weapon's overall speed, from aim walking movement to ADS and sprint speed will be affected, but the hit in mobility won't be as big as with the 16.4" Task Force purely from stats alone.

Since we're pushing the weapon's range as much as possible, we recommend the Axial Arms 3x. If you happen to have another optic of preference, go for it - just make sure to have one on this LMG!

As for the underbarrel, we opted for the Field Agent Grip, which increases both horizontal and vertical recoil control even further. Firing and ADS firing movement speed get a decrease, but not by a large margin. Taking the nerfs into consideration, doing your best to counter the increased recoil is key.

Lastly, ammunition. The MG 82 comes with 90 rounds by default, which is more than decent. Instead of increasing the size at the cost of a stat penalty, we went for the Fast Mag to increase the reload speed, which is super slow by nature.

Best Warzone MG 82 class setup, perks and equipment

Here's our choices for the best items - such as equipment and Perks - to make the best MG 82 class setup in Warzone:

  • Perk 1: Quick Fix (Unlocks at level 42)
  • Perk 2: Overkill (Unlocks at level 38)
  • Perk 3: Amped (Unlocks at level 1)
  • Primary: CR-56A AMAX (Unlocks by getting 3 Gunbutt kills while using an Assault Rifle in 10 different Warzone matches)
  • Tactical: Stun Grenade (Unlocks at level 1)
  • Lethal: Proximity Mine (Unlocks at level 43)

The fire rate of the MG 82 alongside its sheer power won't take long to take down enemies. So, we'll begin health regeneration immediately after each kill with Quick Fix. As usual, if level 42 sounds a bit steep, go for E.O.D., which will help to mitigate damage from non-killstreak explosives and fire until that point.

We recommend opting for Overkill as the second perk. As for our weapon of choice, the CR-56 AMAX is the perfect pair. As much damage as the MG 82 causes, it's still a heavy and slow weapon by nature, so the lightweight speed and low time to kill from the AMAX helps to balance this out.

Since it will easier to switch to the assault rifle instead of reloading the LMG, going for Amped is the best choice here, increasing the speed of said action.

As for equipment, we opted to use the Stun Grenade ourselves, as there is nothing quite like stunning a group of enemies before going full throttle with the MG 82.

Finally, the Proximity Mine is a must in our opinion; it's quick to deploy and will always cover your back, especially if you place it at the side of entrances or stairs. Stray frag grenades only cause noise in the distance, but even if the mine fails, it will still serve as an alarm of enemies approaching your location.
