War World on XBLA this Wednesday

Ubisoft mechs some downloadable noise.

War World is this week's Xbox Live Arcade release, which means you will be able to download it - or a demo version - tomorrow, 1st October.

Developed by Third Wave Games and published by Ubisoft, War World is a third-person mech shooter with proper graphics and online multiplayer.

It's set to cost 800 Microsoft Points, which is GBP 6.80 or EUR 9.60 depending on which cratering economy you're currently supporting.

Players choose between 16 mechs, each with a special ability (e.g. speed, lasers, missiles), and there are 100 single-player levels to play through, with five difficulty levels, while the eight-player online action offers CTF, Bomb Assault, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.

If the name sounds familiar, that's because it's like "World War" backwards. Or possibly because you've heard of the PC version.

Check out the War World XBLA screenshot gallery to see if it looks like your sort of thing, and watch out for our review soon.
