On Xbox 360 too, woo.

Unreal Tournament 2007 has been renamed Unreal Tournament 3 and will be available on Xbox 360 too, the publisher confirmed at its Midway Gamer's Day in Las Vegas this week. Mind you, we'd have been more surprised if Epic Games - of Gears of War fame - weren't producing a 360 version.

It will be developed alongside previously announced PC and PS3 versions and is due for release sometime this year. Midway was unavailable for comment, although goodness knows what they would've said anyway. "We're sorry we didn't invite you," perhaps. Gits.

Unreal Tournament 3 will be the fourth game in the series, bizarrely. We expect the name change has got a lot to do with being built on the Unreal Engine 3 technology, which is proving to be a huge middleware hit with other developers, most recently Square Enix.

Expect ladles-full of saucy next-gen graphics poured on to all of the usual multiplayer modes, along with voice-controlled AI and player controlled vehicles. Perhaps the most interesting new feature to the game is the Conquest mode, which will be a battle for up to eight teams on maps up to three times the size of Deathmatch and Onslaught equivalents.
