Universe at War gets demo

Trumps World War II.

SEGA has released a single-player demo for its upcoming real-time strategy game Universe at War: Earth Assault.

It docks at about 1179 MB and lets you get your commander grips on ordering space machines around in a couple of missions.

Universe at War is being put together by Star Wars: Empire at War developer Petroglyph. Among the star attractions this time is a persistent world-style online multiplayer mode where you will continually battle for control of space.

The game is due out in the first quarter of 2007, with a 360 version to follow. Like Shadowrun it will also support cross-platform play, as well as tout new Windows Live features to let you earn Achievements offline and jump into your friend's games a bit more easily.
