Ubisoft adapting Beowulf

Film game details soon.

Ubisoft is working on a videogame adaptation of Paramount's upcoming film version of Beowulf, the publisher revealed during its Paris "UbiDays" conference tonight.

The Robert Zemeckis film is due out later this year starring Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins and Ray Winstone as Beowulf himself. According to IMDB, anyway.

CEO Yves Guillemot told the audience that the team behind Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was developing the engine, and that it would "redefine the hack and slash genre".

The publisher now has four licences on the go - its adaptations of TV series Naruto (for Xbox 360), Lost and Surf's Up (for multiple formats).

Formats, release dates and all that other jazz are currently unknown, but we're told to expect more details of Beowulf in the coming weeks.
