Sony impenetrable on redesigned PSP

Legal finding clears internet throat.

Sony has refused to comment on rumours that a slightly redesigned PSP is ready to be manufactured.

Spotter Gizmodo noticed an FCC filing for a PSP-3001. There are no noticeable visual alterations, which suggests the majority are internal. Possibly cost- or security-related.

The Federal Communications Commission requires US hardware using any kind of radio signal, such as Wi-Fi, be submitted for regulation.

Sony US boss Jack Tretton said during E3 that the company was working to beef up PSP security against hackers, although whether the two things have anything to do with one another is anyone's guess.
