Sony Cambridge working on PlayTV 2?

New digital TV tuner could be on the way.

A producer at Sony's Cambridge studio has suggested that the team is working on a new version of the PlayTV digital TV tuner for PS3.

"We're still working on Play TV, Play TV 2," Mark Green said when asked what the studio was currently working on by Spong. His comment is buried in an interview about LittleBigPlanet PSP.

Sony recently confirmed that the software for PlayTV would receive "a major update" later this year, including Facebook integration.

This is the first suggestion that the hardware itself might be overhauled, however. There's speculation that such an upgrade might include support for digital broadcasts in HD.

PlayTV allows PS3 owners to record and play back TV through their PS3s.
