PS3's Cell in arcade machines

Tekken 6 first on board.

The power of PS3 will be soon be shoved into arcade machines thanks to Namco Bandai, which has pinched the technology for its Tekken 6 beat-'em-up.

It'll be the Cell processor whirring away under the Tekken 6 chassis, which will apparently be the first time Sony has used its "supercomputer in a chip" outside of a PS3.

Other features of the PlayStation 3 are also expected to be used by Namco in the future, such as the graphics technology, and being really shiny. A release date for Tekken 6 in arcades is still to be determined.

Sony launched PS3 in Europe last Friday, and has enjoyed a record-breaking weekend by selling an estimated 165,000 units in the UK alone.

Launch titles Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm also did well, entering the UK game charts at first and second respectively.
