PS3 sales double in Japan
But Mario Party 8 romps chart.
The PS3 has picked up its game in Japan and shifted twice as many units as last week, soaring up to a healthy 28,829 figure. The Xbox 360 continued to struggle at around 4000.
Wii and DS figures were slightly down, but Nintendo's platforms still dominate the field, at 77,000 and 150,000 respectively.
Sony should also be grinning for the PSP, which climbed to 35,000 this week, alongside old-timer PlayStation 2 at 12,000.
In the game sales stakes, Mario Party 8 for Wii was far and away the winner with 265,000 copies shifted, towering above Hot Shots Golf 5 for PS3 at two with 152,000. Way behind at three was Namco Bandai's Taiko Drum Master for DS, with 93,000.
Other new entries include Square Enix's It's a Wonderful Life at four, Namco Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 at five and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PSP, distributed by Capcom, at six.
The last new entry in the top ten is Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, published in the region by Spike, at number seven.
