Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto is part of the Pokémon anniversary celebrations, with a focus, as the name suggests, on the first region we ever visited in the Pokémon universe.
Throughout Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto you'll be able to complete a number of Collection Challenges and research quests. Pokémon from the Kanto region will also be appearing more frequently in the wild.
Before you start enjoying the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, however, you'll want to know the event's start time, decide whether you want to have a paid or free-to-play experience and, if you do purchase a ticket, decide whether you're playing the Red or Green version of the event.

Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto schedule explained: What time does Tour Kanto start?
The main Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event occurs on Saturday, 20th February, starting at 9am (local time) and ending at 9pm (local time).
The event itself is then broken down into hourly blocks, with each focusing upon a specific part of the Kanto region and having the spawn rate for Pokémon associated with this location boosted.
This schedule will help you complete the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Collection Challenges and research quests, because, rather than forcing you to focus on the game all day, you can target specific hours to ensure you catch the Pokémon you need.
The schedule for Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto is:
- 9am to 10am - Pallet Town
- 10am to 11am - Pewter City
- 11am to 12pm - Cerulean City
- 12pm to 1pm - Fuchsia City
- 1pm to 2pm - Pokémon League

It's important to note that all of the Collection Challenges released as Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto will be available till Sunday, 28th February at 7:59pm (local time) and, with the Kanto Celebration event running throughout the week, you still have the opportunity to complete them all.
Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto research and rewards explained
Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto has three research quests for you to complete, though you'll only gain access to all three if you purchase a ticket for the event.

The first is a timed research quest and will be available for all players - paid or free - throughout the event named Defeat All Challengers. Since this is a Timed research quest, you must complete it before Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto ends to receive all of its rewards.
Buying a Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto ticket will grant you access to two special research quests. The first will be an event-exclusive quest based around the Kanto Tour, entitled Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto, and will eventually lead to an encounter with a shiny Ditto.
Once this first quest has been completed, you'll unlock the second special research quest - the Mew Masterwork Research. This one has been designed to be completed over a far longer period of time and, once you've overcome all it's challenges, you'll be able to add a shiny Mew to your Pokémon collection.
Finally, there are rewards from Collection Challenges. Though the main draw for these is adding to your Collection Challenge medal, each one has some minor rewards - such as additional encounter, XP, and Stardust - for their completion.

Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Collection Challenges and rewards explained
There are a total of 10 Collection Challenges for you to complete during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto. It's important to note that these challenges will only be available to players who purchase a Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto ticket.
All 10 Collection Challenges will be available from Saturday, 20th February at 9am (local time) to Sunday, 28th February 7:59pm (local time), giving you ample time to complete them.
It's important to note, however, that neither Pokémon hatched from eggs or Shadow Pokémon will count towards these challenges.

The first two challenges - Incense and Trade - are dependent on which version of Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto you're playing.
For the Incense Collection Challenge, you'll need to catch the Pokémon which are exclusively attracted to Incense in your version of the event. Red version players, for example, will have to catch Growlithe, Oddish and Mankey, among others.
The Trade Collection Challenge, however, will involve trading Pokémon with a player using the opposite version to yours - Red to Green and vice versa - to collect the Pokémon which are not available in your version of Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto.
Thankfully, the trade range will be increased to 40km during the event, so, as long as you have a friend playing the opposite version to yourself, you'll be able to complete this Collection Challenge safely.
Five of the Collection Challenges are inspired by locations in the Kanto region, such as Pallet Town and Fuchsia City, and are best completed during the specific hours for this location during Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto.
The final three - Raid, Research and Evolve - are focused around completing specific activities in Pokémon Go.
Free-play and paid differences for Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto explained
How you experience Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto also depends on whether or not you decide to buy a ticket for the event.
If you prefer to stay a free-to-play trainer, then you'll still be able to enjoy a number of bonuses throughout the event. This includes the trade range being increased to 40km, Pokémon from the Kanto region appearing more frequently in the wild and the Timed research quest.
You'll also be able to battle the legendary birds - Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres - and Mewtwo in five-star raids. These Pokémon will all know an exclusive move, making this a great time to add one of these legendaries to your team.
Purchasing a ticket, however, will grant you access to the full event, including 10 Collection Challenges, the choice between the Red and Green versions of the event, more Candy for catching Gen 1 Pokémon and two special research quests.
The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go, which has brought Rediscover Kanto and Sustainability Week, along with the World of Wonders quest. How to purchase a ticket for Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto explained
If you want to partake in the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto, then you need to purchase a ticket, which costs £11.99 / $11.99.
To purchase a ticket, you need to visit the in-game Pokémon Go store, which is accessed via the game's main menu. Once there, you'll need to scroll down till you find the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto banner.
Selecting the banner will bring up more information about the event and, on this screen, you can press 'Buy' to follow the purchase instructions specific to the app store for your phone.
After you've purchased the ticket, it will appear in your Item Bag and, from there, you can choose which version - Red or Green - you wish to play.
