Pokémon Go Latias counters, weaknesses and moveset explained
Everything you need to know about the legendary Latias in Pokémon Go.
Latias, one of the legendary Eon Pokémon, has appeared in Pokémon Go.
The female counterpart to Latios, Latias is one half of the Hoenn region’s legendary Eon Duo. Latios and Latias are both pretty similar Pokémon, and Mega Latios and Mega Latias look near idential; but they’re not the same Pokémon and each has its own strengths. For the avoidance of doubt, we’re talking about the red one here.
Like all legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Latias is available in five-star raids, so, if you want to add this Gen 3 legendary Pokémon to your Pokédex, you’ll have to beat it first. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a shiny Latias.
Mega Latias has been released into Pokémon Go and will now make the occassional appearance in Mega Raids.

Latias counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go
Here’s a list of the counters and weaknesses you should know about before going up against Latias:
- Latias type – Dragon and Psychic
- Latias is weak against – Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fairy, Ghost and Ice types
- Latias mega counters – Mega Gengar, Mega Gardevoire and, of course, Mega Latios. Mega Salamence is also an option, but like Mega Latias, will be naturally weak to Latios.
- Latias counters: – Diaga, Rayquaza, Salamence, Zekrom, Hydreigon, Garchomp, Palkia, Giratina (Origin, ideally) and Reshiram are your top choices here, but all of these are obviously weak to Dragons. If you want something less exposed, you're looking at Zacian, Darkrai, Gengar, Hoopa (Unbound) and Primal Groudon running Dragon Tail.
- Other Latias notes: Dragon is the type of choice when battling Latias, but comes with the risk of mutually assured destruction. If you don’t have many strong Dragon-type Pokémon, or you simply don’t want to use your body weight in Revives, perhaps consider Ghost, Dark, Ice or Fairy-types to beat Latios.

Latias will have the following CP ranges:
- Raid Boss CP – 48,080
- Latias max CP – 3968
- Max normal CP for catching Latias — 1921 to 2006
- Max weather Boost CP (Windy) for catching Latias – 2402 to 2507
Latias Moveset in Pokémon Go
The biggest difference between Latios and Latias are their movesets. As of February 2023, Latias has the following moves in its move pool:

- Zen Headbutt (Psychic)
Possible Charged Moves:
- Outrage (Dragon)
- Mist Ball (Legacy, Psychic)
- Psychic (Psychic)

Everything we know about Latias
The first appearance of Latias in Pokémon Go was in April 2018; at this time, it was appearing in raids located in Europe and Asia. In May 2018, it switched locations with Latios, becoming available, via raid battles, in Africa and the Americas for a month.
This legendary Pokémon has also been available through research task breakthroughs and special raid events, and the Shadow version was available by beating Team Go Rocket’s Giovanni for a while.
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire are the first mainline Pokémon games that Latias appeared in. In Sapphire, you'll have the chance to encounter Latias as it roams Hoenn after you defeat the Elite Four. In Ruby, however, you'd have to acquire the Eon Ticket from either a distribution event or through the special Eon Ticket e-Card for the e-Reader.
Latias is a member of the Eon Duo, alongside Latias and together they share the category of Eon Pokémon. These two legendary Pokémon are believed to draw inspiration from the philosophy of yin and yang.
