Nintendo reveals Wii storage solution

Save WiiWare and VC games to SD card.

Nintendo has announced plans to let Wii owners save software they're downloading straight to an SD card.

Speaking at a press conference in Tokyo today, bossman Satoru Iwata admitted the console's "insufficient memory storage" was an issue that had to be addressed.

So as of spring 2009, you'll be able to save WiiWare and Virtual Console titles purchased via the Shopping Channel to SD. At least if you live in Japan, anyway - no plans have so far been announced for North America and Europe.

Nintendo also wants to get more people using their Wii and DS to connect to the internet. They're planning to launch special Wi-Fi adapters, and offer an incentive of 500 points to new users.
