Square Enix polls consumers on DS titles

Japanese giant ponders which back catalogue titles to bring to Nintendo's double act.

While Nintendo boasts of strong third party software support for the newly redesigned Nintendo DS console, at least one publisher hasn't quite decided what to do with it - with Square Enix now asking consumers which of its titles they'd like to see on the platform.

The giant Japanese publisher has included a polling card with copies of Final Fantasy I + II Advance asking customers which titles, from a list of many of the company's best-loved classics, they'd like to see on the new handheld.

Included among the options are Final Fantasy 3, 4, 5 and 6, the SaGa series, Front Mission, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Mana (Seiken Densetsu) and Hanjuku Heroes - presumably indicating a fairly comprehensive shortlist of the games Square Enix is considering for the platform.

The company is also thought to be developing some original titles for the DS, and demonstrated a number of concept titles at the unveiling of the hardware at the E3 trade show in Los Angeles two months ago.
