KOTOR 2 US confirmed for December launch

Yet more reasons for importers to get excited.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords will be the droids you are looking for from December 6th, LucasArts said this week. And if you didn't get that: the American version's coming out on the Xbox on December 6th.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment this time (as opposed to BioWare, who did the first one), KOTOR 2 was originally announced for February 2005, which is roughly when we expect the Xbox and PC versions to pitch up here in Europe, but was brought forward once it became apparent that it could be done in time for Christmas.

Microsoft will be hoping it adds another spurt to the Xbox's Christmas growth, after Halo 2 sold four bagillion copies in minus three seconds earlier this month. However gamers will be hoping that as well as picking up where BioWare left off in narrative terms, Obsidian's efforts to improve the game's fine balance of dark and light paths with new tricks will prove to be a fitting continuation as well.

Okay, that was a rubbish sentence, but we survived. As 3PO put it: I thought that hairy beast would be the end of me.

We'll tell you whether KOTOR 2 is any good as soon as we get to play it. Around December 6th, presumably.
