Top Spin for Xbox 360

Ace tennis sim goes next-gen.

We're big fans of 2K Sports' Top Spin tennis game, so we're very excited to hear the first details of Top Spin 2 - coming soonish to an Xbox 360 near you.

2K promises that "Everything you loved about Top Spin" - which is pretty much everything in our case - "Is back and made even better," woohoo!

The player-creator system has a new Digital Identity feature that lets you customise characters to your liking, choosing everything from their hairstyles and clothing to their general attitude.

If you're too lazy to bother with all that you can always play as one of the game's tennis legends, namely: Roddick, Federer, Moya, Haas, Blake, Hewitt, Coria, Mirnyi, Kuznetsov, Evans, Williams (Venus), Sharapova, Sugiyama, Davenport, Myskina, Demetieva, Kuznetsova, Mauresmo, Molik, Haynes, Jackson and Morariu. Or Tim Henman.

Along with the fundamental slice, drop, chop, lob and drive shots, there are new risk shots and "advanced controls" for hammering your opponent in new and exciting ways.

We're promised impressive visuals too, with super-smooth animations, bold colours and "shockingly high resolutions". Gosh.

Top Spin 2 is due out in the US this autumn - there's no word on a European release date yet, but we'll keep you posted.
