WoW expansion on way

Blizzard says so and everything.

World of Warcraft developer Blizzard has confirmed that a new expansion for the PC MMORPG is currently in development - but it's keeping the details under wraps for the time being.

"Some have asked about an expansion and what it might hold," lead producer Shane Dabiri writes in a post on the WoW website.

"I wanted to let players know that it is in the works, and we’ll release details as soon as we can."

Dabiri's comments confirm similar statements made by Blizzard bigwig Paul Sams in an interview with our sister site, GamesIndustry.biz, earlier this month.

Sams said Blizzard was "most certainly" planning to develop paid expansion content, stating: "I think that all of us would be naďve to think that we wouldn't do that... When we announce it and what it will be is something that we'll figure out in the near-term future."

We'll bring you more news on just what Blizzard is keeping up its wizard's sleeve as soon as we get it.
