VU Games arouses Leisure Suit Larry

'Magna Cum Laude' due in late 2004.

Vivendi-Universal Games plans to revive Al Lowe's saucily comical Leisure Suit Larry character for a new adventure dubbed Magna Cum Laude, according to the December issue of the American magazine Computer Games.

Since news got out about the game, creator Al Lowe has updated his personal website reminding fans that VU Games owns the rights to Larry, and adding that he was interviewed for a 'sidebar comment' on the Computer Games report.

Although Lowe is not involved on the project, which he says has been underway for over a year, he does offer his services "if Sierra feels I have something to contribute" and says that Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude is, as best he knows, a working title.

In terms of game details, the Computer Games website made cryptic reference to Grand Theft Auto, before the publisher yanked the article teaser page and tried to do away with the cover image (happily preserved by Adventuregamers.com). VU Games has declined to comment on the game, and platforms have not been mentioned.

The issue of Computer Games goes on sale in the US on November 11th.
