The Getaway gets film treatment

Sony Pictures makes the announcement at the Cannes Film Festival.

Sony Pictures has confirmed that a film based on The Getaway is in development. The company made the announcement at the Cannes Film Festival, where Sony Computer Entertainment representatives were on hand to demonstrate The Getaway: Black Monday.

Early last year, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Screen Gems, one of Sony Pictures' alternative labels, was being lined up to make a Getaway film for release this year alongside the game we now know as The Getaway: Black Monday.

That now seems unlikely, but it remains a possibility. SCEE was unable to provide further details this morning, although an official announcement is expected later today.
