Bruce Campbell shows support

Evil Dead star confirms involvement with Regeneration and takes piss out of Coppola at same time.

Following the announcement last week that Evil Dead Regeneration is coming to Xbox, PC and PS2 this summer, actor Bruce Campbell has reaffirmed his support for the project with a cheeky dig at a fellow Hollywood legend.

"I knew about it from the beginning. They asked me if I thought it was a good idea," Campbell is reported to have said.

"They use the characters everyone knows, and then within minutes they kill each other. I absolutely had something to do with the game, and I approve!"

His comments are just a little similar to those recently made by Coppola about EA's Godfather game. The director said he "knew nothing about it" and that the publisher "never asked me if I thought it was a good idea."

"They use the characters everyone knows," he went on, "And then for the next hour they shoot and kill each other. I had nothing to do with the game and I disapprove."

Campbell will provide the voice of Ash for Regeneration, which sees our hero banged up in a loony bin and taking on Deadites unleashed by evil scientist Dr. Reinhard.

As well as the Evil Dead series, Campbell's filmography includes Maniac Cop, Maniac Cop 2, Alien Apocalypse and Man with the Screaming Brain. [And, lest we forget, he had ace cameos in both Spider-Man flicks, and Bubba Ho-Tep was brilliant too. -Campbell-loving Ed] He is currently producing a documentary on public land issues in the Southern Oregon area.
