Dynasty Warriors 5 due in 2005

KOEI, that's a surprise.

KOEI is preparing to launch the fifth game in its Dynasty Warriors series on PlayStation 2 in 2005, the publisher announced today. Dynasty Warriors 5 is due out in "early summer" in Europe, following Japanese and American releases in February and March respectively.

Development of DW5 is being handled, as usual, by KOEI's internal Omega Force team, and although there are literally no details of what to expect, it should follow in the tracks of its predecessors, which gave you control of a pivotal unit in huge-scale battles and saw you affecting morale and strategy in general through your choice of actions.

And, as with previous Dynasties, we expect this one to draw on yet more of its Romance of the Three Kingdoms inspiration and introduce us to increasingly exotic bits of Ancient China.

KOEI is also planning to launch a PlayStation Portable version of Dynasty Warriors in the near future.
