Sony bundles demos with kill.switch

Play SOCOM II, watch Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain.

Sony has announced that Namco's kill.switch, which it is publishing exclusively on PS2 in Europe, will ship with a demo of SOCOM II: US Navy SEALs and a preview movie of Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain.

SOCOM is of course the follow-up to PS2 Online's most successful game, and should be with us in Europe by the end of March. Earlier in the week we spoke to producer Seth Luisi at length about what makes it so much better than the first one, and indeed why PS2 Online is still a good bet despite the success of Xbox Live. Read that if "SOCOM" means nothing to you - it offers a good grounding.

Meanwhile, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain is the series' PS2 debut and also online enabled, due out in Q2 2004. Unlike SOCOM though, it has a concerted single-player campaign comprising 17 missions, and the multiplayer aspect allows you to team up with three other players to take down the same terrorist scum you would on your own.

kill.switch itself is due out on February 20th, and we hope to bring you a review very soon.
