More 'downloadable' Wolfenstein content

Is it safe?

The second 'downloadable' map for Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War has been made available via Xbox Live, according to reports this morning. We'd love to confirm it for you, but we're not driving home to get our sodding Xbox.

Anyway, according to reports, this one's called "Safe"'; in it, the Allies have to co-operatively overrun an Axis stronghold and pinch some vital documents from a safe at the heart of the complex. Apparently it can be played in elimination and stopwatch multiplayer modes, which sounds grand.

Even better news is that like the last map, all the 'download' seems to do is unlock the map on the game disc, so you're not going to be sat in front of the TV for hours waiting for your cable or DSL modem to wolf it down.

We're still not sure we like this approach, which deprives gamers of perfectly polished content until the publisher feels like releasing it, and doesn't really add anything to the service, but at least it gives you something to do if you're bored of all the basic maps and entices you back to Wolf. We're just hoping that the practice is kept in check.
