Datel to launch PSP hard drive?

As bundle with X2 battery.

News has reached Eurogamer that Datel is planning to launch a new hard drive for the PSP.

Judging by the rather convincing pictures we've seen, it'll slot into the handheld's memory stick port to give you 4GB of extra space - enough for up to eight movies, at a push, and more than a thousand MP3s. Not to mention loads of game saves and pictures too, of course.

We're reliably informed that the hard drive will be bundled with the previously announced X2 Battery, which is designed to replace the one that comes with the PSP and only sticks out the back a bit. Datel reckons it lasts for up to eight hours on a single charge, rather impressively. The bundle will also include a USB cable for hooking up your PSP to a PC.

There's no word on a price for the bundle, but with the X2 battery alone carrying an RRP of £34.99 and 1GB memory sticks going for around £30 a pop it probably won't be cheap.

Datel declined to comment and wouldn't confirm to us that the hard drive is definitely on the way - but this is one rumour we reckon might just turn out to be true.
