Atari's Line Of Sight: Vietnam out August 1st

Off we go, back to 'Nam

This year is officially the year of the Nam shooter, and next in line is Line Of Sight: Vietnam, out on August 1st on PC from The Publisher Formerly Known As Infogrames (TPFKAI).

Apparently "available from all good retailers", as opposed to all the really poor ones, the game puts you in the shoes of a young sniper assigned by the U.S. Army to the 5th Special Forces compound in Kontum, Vietnam, on a mission to ambush the enemy in the dead of night and pop those Gook heads like watermelons.

Developed by nFusion Interactive, the same team that brought us the mysterious Deadly Dozen series, Vietnam: Line of Sight claims to bring gamers "the most believable jungle environments in a computer game to date", and features "authentic firearms" including the M-21 Sniper Rifle and "specialized low-light equipment such as the Starlight Scope in night missions".

TPFKAI enthuses about "a full campaign of exciting missions alone, or play through them cooperatively in multiplayer games", with the requisite Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Mission Mode "where one team of players tries to stop another team from completing the mission". What, like by pulling the power cord out of the back of the PC?

It sounds pretty generic, but the screenshots are certainly promising, and we'll be sure to deliver a verdict as and when we get some code. Check out www.digitalbattles.com for more info. Or play VietCong: it’s really good.
