Gradius Portable gets quick-save

'Sa five-game PSP compilation.

Perhaps accepting that Kristan will never be good enough to beat them any other way, Konami's revealed that its forthcoming Gradius Portable title for PSP will compile Gradius I-IV and Gradius Gaiden and chuck in a quick-save type feature.

Due out on February 9th in Japan (no details on other regions just yet), Gradius Portable will let players save and load the game-state at any time from the pause screen, and will also feature some other changes designed to fit it to the handheld.

There'll be the option to adjust the ship's hit-detection size, turn slowdown on or off, and stretch it to widescreen ratio. And, in actual fact, Gradius I and II will be reworked a bit so that they work natively at that ratio - allowing you to see more of the screen.

On top of that, there'll be movie and music gallery modes - so that you can watch movies from Gradius Deluxe Pack, Gradius Gaiden, Gradius III and IV, and access soundtracks from all five games.

Fans of scrolling shoot-'em-ups should be able to get their pre-orders in from the usual importers within the next few weeks.
