Nissan builds car around X360

PGR3 gives designers the URGE.

Nissan has teamed up with Microsoft to produce a new concept car which features "the first ever fully integrated gaming system within a vehicle".

The Nissan URGE comes complete with a built-in Xbox 360 and a flip-down seven-inch LCD screen which doubles as a rear-view mirror during actual driving. You can use the car's own steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedal to play Project Gotham Racing 3 - whilst parked, of course.

"A Nissan URGE driver can, for example, maneuver through the streets of New York, park the car and fire up the Xbox 360, then virtually race through the same streets using the same steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal," Microsoft said in a statement.

This blurs "fantasy and reality in a way that the automotive world has never before seen," apparently.

You can check it out for yourself if you happen to be in Detroit next week, since the Nissan URGE will make its debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show on January 9. If you can't make it, you can always take a look at the pictures they've already released.
