Metal Gear Solid coming to Cube

Shigsy, Kojima and Silicon Knights porting original MGS for some reason.

The original Metal Gear Solid is being remade exclusively for GameCube, with Silicon Knights of Eternal Darkness fame handling development duties.

Subtitled ‘The Twin Snakes’, the game will be release later in the year, and is being overseen by Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto. From what we’ve gleaned so far, the original storyline will remain intact, but the game will benefit from tarted up visuals. Presumably there will be a whole ton of extras to lure the faithful into buying the game all over again, but as yet Konami has not released any further details.

Konami legend Hideo Kojima attempted to sound ‘pumped’ in his requisite quote, but somehow we’re feeling a little unmoved by the prospect of a five year old game. This is what he had to say: “I am tremendously excited to introduce a unique Metal Gear Solid experience to a new audience of gamers as well as collaborate with my mentor in game design, Mr. Miyamoto, on Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes for Nintendo GameCube.”

Meanwhile Shigsy’s excitement levels we’re curiously high – and if he’s excited, then we suppose that you should be too: “Mr. Kojima and I have spoken about this project for some time, and I’m excited our ideas have matched so perfectly.

“It’s this shared passion for game creation that has allowed us to collaborate to bring a special Metal Gear project exclusively for Nintendo GameCube.”

The game will be shown off at E3, and we can only hope our jaded attitude to this announcement is misplaced. Let it be so.
