More than 21 million PS3s now sold

Sony setting sights on Latin America next.

Sony has announced that 21.3 million PlayStation 3 consoles have now been sold around the globe.

That puts PS3 in third place behind Nintendo and Microsoft. Just under 45 million Wii consoles had been sold by the end of last year, according to Nintendo. Microsoft reckons it's shifted 28 million Xbox 360 units.

It's worth remembering though, just in the interests of fairness, that those consoles had a head-start, we are not biased ONE LOVE.

Sony announced the figure as it unveiled plans to launch hardware in Latin America. PS2, PS3 and PSP are set to go on sale in 13 different countries as part of the plans.
