How to obtain the blue crystal in Maquette

The Gateways in Maquette begins in a sandy area and your first task is to head to the pavilion in the southern part of this area, where you'll find an orb of red crystal.

Pick up the crystal and take it to the gate at the other end of the area. Here you'll find a larger piece of red crystal and, by pressing the orb against this, you'll open the gate, granting you access to the dome.

Carrying the red crystal, go to the red castle north of the dome and head inside when the doorway opens. It's important to note that this doorway will only open if you're carrying the ball of red crystal.

Head through the castle until you reach a new lever to pull, which will release the blue crystal.

Next, take the blue crystal out into the small garden area of this castle.

Now it's time to visit the dome in the middle of this area - don't forget to pick up the red crystal so you can leave the castle.

How to obtain the green crystal in Maquette

Inside the dome for this chapter of Maquette, investigate the replica of the blue castle. You'll notice a ramp-like section of roof at it's back, along with a red crystal close to the top of this ramp.

First, you need to place the small version of the red crystal at the bottom of this roof ramp in the maquette.

Next, find the small blue crystal on the maquette and hold it against the blue doorway at the end of the roof ramp. This will dissolve the blue doorway, allowing the red crystal to roll inside.

If you're having trouble seeing what you're doing during this or any puzzle, feel free to climb inside the maquette itself. Sadly, a giant version of you won't appear.

Once the red crystal is inside the castle, place the blue crystal somewhere on the plaza surrounding the dome within the maquette and then collect the larger version of the crystal.

Enter the blue castle and immediately switch over to the red crystal, so you can enter the room containing the green crystal

Before you pick up the green crystal, make sure you pull the lever to open the left-hand door, so you can leave this room.

How to retrieve the key from the dream house in Maquette

You won't, however, be using the green crystal in Maquette just yet. First, you'll want to grab the trusty red crystal again and place it anywhere on the plaza.

Afterward, head to the dome and pick up the smaller version of the red crystal. You now need to place it on the balcony of the green house, also known as the dream house, making sure it's atop the green doorway.

Once the red crystal is ready, grab the smaller version of the green crystal on the maquette and hold it near the balcony, so the red crystal drops into the hallway below.

With this achieved, keep hold of the smaller version of the green crystal and leave the dome. You'll want to use the green crystal to pass through the first two green doorways, so that you can reach the house's porch, where you'll find the red crystal.

Before you pick up the red crystal though, poke the green one through the gaps in the metal decorations for the porch, so you can easily retrieve it when the time comes.

Next, pick up the red crystal and proceed into the house, making sure you open the door on your left-hand side.

You'll then want to pick up the key, take it down the small corridor at the back of the house and then push it through the window next to the owl statue.

Now all you have to do is use the red crystal to leave the house and then grab the small green crystal from where you left it, so you can return to the plaza.

At the maquette, you'll find the key you tossed through the window on the ground; place it anywhere within the dome plaza on the maquette to return the key to it's rightful size.

How to find and place the gear in Maquette

The final challenge for The Gateways chapter of Maquette sees you returning to the southern beach area.

Before you use the key on the beach castle, however, pick up the red crystal within the maquette and pop it through the hole of the eastern wall of this castle. Placing the green castle next to this castle's entrance will also save you some time in the future.

Pop the red crystal through this hole.

With this done, grab the key and open the door to the southern castle. Once the door is open, use the green crystal to enter the first room and the red to access the second.

To leave, pull the lever on the door and then cross the bridge to collect the gear. Before you can place it on the maquette, however, a wall will appear between you and the dome.

To access the maquette again, you need to grab the red crystal and jump from the spot on the bridge where the railings have broken to the rock opposite. From here, you'll be able to jump across to the wall and out of the maquette you've been trapped in.

Once there, walk to the big piece of red crystal and touch it with your red crystal orb.

After the wall has vanished, climb back up the giant stairs and into an alcove, where you'll find a lever on one of the inside walls. Pulling it will activate the elevator which will return you to the beach castle.

Now all you have to do is retrieve the gear from wherever you left it and place it on the back of the sand castle which lies within the maquette.

Doing this will start the next chapter of Maquette - The Wedge - and, if you're looking for more challenges, check out our guide for the Maquette trophies.
