Lloyd-Webber karaoke games planned

Something for the West End girls.

PaidContent has learned that stage musical overlord Andrew Lloyd-Webber's work could soon be turned into a series of videogames.

No doubt inspired by Apple Corps' move with The Beatles game, Lloyd-Webber's Really Useful Group thinks the time and demographics are right to put mawkish musical theatre on consoles. And PC. And mobile.

"With the video gaming audience having moved from its male-dominated roots towards a more family-oriented demographic, now is the perfect time for us to take some of the best-known names in musical entertainment in a more interactive direction," said the Group's Douglas Glen.

PaidContent said that the games would let players sing along as characters in shows like Evita, Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar - and possibly involve "audition" elements to add a little reality TV to the mass-market mix.

Really Useful Group is reportedly talking to a handful of top publishers about the games, including EA.
