HL2 art director doing Prodigies game

Based on 3D animated film due in 2011.

Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov will direct a videogame sequel to upcoming 3D animated film The Prodigies.

Based on a 1982 novel by Bernard Lenteric, The Prodigies is about five young prodigies who decide to take revenge on the world after they are "violently assaulted" as teenagers - and the sixth prodigy who could stop them or join them.

The film is due out in March 2011 and Antonov - who was responsible for concepting City 17, its suburbs and the Combine architecture and technology in Half-Life 2 - is artistic director on it.

However, according to his personal website his involvement doesn't end there.

"Since January 2008 Viktor has been in charge of the conception and the visual design direction for The Prodigies - animated feature produced by Fidelite Films, Onyx and Studio 37," the website notes.

"He is co-writing Soleil Eiditions comic book the Prodigies, prequel of the film, and will direct The Prodigies video game, sequel of the film."

There's no more word on the game than that, but the website does feature concept art and a colourboard for the film if you want to get a taste of it.
