Ghost of Tsushima - Heart of the Jito: how to sneak into Lord Shimura's quarters

Detailed advice on how to sneak back into Castle Shimura.

Heart of the Jito is another sneaky mission in the climactic Act 3 of Ghost of Tsushima, tasking you with delivering a message to your now-estranged uncle, Lord Shimura.

It can be relatively tricky at times, so with that in mind on this page we've detailed how to enter Castle Shimura from the north and how to sneak into Lord Shimura's quarters to deliver that all-important message.

Ghost of Tsushima: How to Enter Castle Shimura from the north during Heart of the Jito

Once you've spoken with Yuna and started the mission, it's time for the long ride south, back to Castle Shimura.

Enter Castle Shimura from the north

Once you're within about 200m of Castle Shimura on the ride down, look out for a waterfall like this, and continue just to the left of it. You'll be able to see the castle itself, and a cutscene will trigger.

After the cutscene, swim across the river to the fisherman, and climb up next to him.

The platforming is all very straightforward here - when you get to the top of the waterfall you need to use a grapple, then continue climbing and you're there.

How to sneak into Lord Shimura's quarters during Heart of the Jito

Now, your task is to actually get to the place where you're delivering this message.

Sneak into Lord Shimura's quarters

You'll enter the castle grounds behind some cover. Wait for the guards to move to your right and look away, and then go left, towards the bridge.

Cross the first bridge and follow the path to the second, but don't cross it. Instead, go straight ahead down the ledge to the moat, where there's a little island with some guards on it.

Sneak past them by waiting for the left-hand guard to move to the right, and swimming by in the water to the left of that little island. Go all the way to the big bridge up ahead.

Go under the bridge, right to the edge of the waterfall, keeping left. You'll see a stump that you can jump and grapple onto to your left.

Now repeat the same wall-climbing you did when you snuck into the castle during From the Shadows, until you reach that same window into the castle.

Remember this one's a non-lethal run, so you'll need to use wind chimes and the like to stay completely hidden. You might need to do that with the first guard in fact. Be sure to grab this windchime, as you'll need at least one later on.

Either way he'll soon walk outside if you're patience. Use that as a chance to sweep the bottom floor for supplies and head up the ladder.

Go up to the top floor, then outside, and you'll see your goal: the big main building's top floor, and it's full of guards - as is the garden that you've snuck through before outside. There's also another chime here which you should grab - remember to save at least one.

The best way to get there is via that same garden, but this time there are no handy wires to run across. Instead you have to stick low and to the right behind the cover, and patiently wait - the guard facing your way will eventually move on.

Once you get to the next little area past the garden, there's long grass on the left and some new scaffolding. Climb up that ladder there and through the window at the top.

Inside, Lord Shimura walks in from his speech. Wait for him to go, and then the single guard that was by the ladder will leave too - quickly head up the ladder.

On the first floor, don't go through the sliding door, and instead go out the open window in front of you, and walk around the exterior ledge. Eventually you'll get to another window - be careful, as there's a guard right there looking at you. Wait for Lord Shimura to go past him and up the stairs, and again the guard will move out the way. Head in and straight up again.

On the second floor there's no open window to help you out - you need to go through the door. Lord Shimura and a guard will be sat down on the left, and another guard standing facing the ladder further ahead.

The best solution is to throw a wind chime - which you've hopefully been saving - into the tattered, open door in front of you, getting the one standing guard to go investigate it. Then you can quickly sneak past and up the ladder.

Now you're in your uncle's quarters - head to the waypoint and place the letter, and a cutscene will trigger.

Message delivered. Nice work, Ghost!
