Fortnite's Hunter's Cloak is a new item introduced in Season 6.
It's available by engaging in two of the season's new systems - hunting wildlife and crafting.
Crafting a Hunter's Cloak is also one of the early Seasonal challenges - so working out how to do it is not only a useful introduction to those systems, but a way to get some XP gains.
Fortnite Hunter's Cloak: How do you craft a Hunter's Cloak in Fortnite?
To get a Hunter's Cloak, you must craft one by collecting these items during a match:
- Animal Bones x 2 (Crafting Ingredient)
- Meat x1 (Inventory Item)
To craft in Fortnite, access your inventory (press Up on the D-Pad), then move over to the crafting tab.
From here, you can elect to 'upgrade' any of the items you have in your inventory using components you've collected during that match to things such as Primal weapons.
To get Meat and Animal Bones, you must hunt wildlife. Creatures spawn in a variety of places across the map - there is no specific one location you can reliably go to, from what we can tell. For example, we found a boar roaming near Weeping Woods, and that gave us enough resources from a single kill to be able to craft a Hunter's Cloak.
Whichever animal you come across, pick up the Meat and Animal Bones which drop. The Meat in particular is an item you can equip, and it's this you can upgrade with the Animal Bones in the crafting menu.
Select the Meat in the crafting menu, opt to craft, and the Hunter's Cloak is yours.
The new Season is here! Check out the Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass skins, the new Fortnite map changes and the Victory Umbrella. Recent additions include Off-Road Tires, setting structures on fire, raptors and the Hunter's Cloak.
The description for the Hunter's Cloak is as follows: "Throws creatures off the scent."
Once equipped and 'used', it should ward away any aggressive animals which come your way - such as wolves, one of the new wildlife additions to the Season 6 map - and is a requirement to tame others, such as raptors.
