Flipnote leads Friday update charge

WiiWare/VC/DSiWare refreshes again.

Free DSi application Flipnote will head the weekly DSiWare/WiiWare/Virtual Console refresher tomorrow.

It's a flipbook maker. And flipbooks bring back memories of school. This DSi app has up to 140 pages to fill, either with drawings of your own or images taken with the DSi camera. Sounds can be added, and there are even layer and transformation options for the more discerning flipbooker.

DSiWare is also getting Sujin Taisen: Number Battles, "a new kind of boardgame" that comes "all the way from Japan". Put numbered tiles in patterns on a board and win points.

Over to WiiWare and there's Family Slot Car Racing, where "Daddy, Mummy, Sarah, and Billy are putting the pedal to the metal". It's a racing game and you can even race against a friend and unlock new courses. Slot Cars, incidentally, are Scalextric cars.

The other WiiWare game is 3-2-1, Rattle Battle, where you plus friends work through a series of "cute" and "quirky" mini-games with "shake-centric" gameplay.

Finally, on Virtual Console, sits Master System game Phantasy Star.

All items this week cost 500 Nintendo Points (approx £3.50/€5).
