EA confirms Bulletstorm for 2011

CliffyB's thunder stolen, again.

EA has confirmed publishing rights to People Can Fly's shooter Bulletstorm, which will be released sometime in 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

People Can Fly is owned by Epic Games, remember, and Bulletstorm was expected to be one of the games Cliff Bleszinksi would reveal on US television tonight. The other was Gears of War 3, but the beans were spilled on that late last week; poor old Cliff won't be left with anything at this rate.

Bulletstorm's a first-person shooter about a band of mercenaries dubbed Dead Echo. Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato are two of them and they're soon betrayed and find themselves on their own, surrounded by flesh-eating mutants in an abandoned paradise.

You'll be Grayson Hunt, by the sounds of things, and have "over-the-top" combat moves and "outrageously large" guns. There's a skillshot system underpinning the mayhem, which rewards you with points for killing things in creative ways.

People Can Fly's previous work includes bonkers hell-inspired shooter Painkiller. With the backing of Unreal Engine 3 and the studio that makes it, Bulletstorm should be one to keep an eye on.
