Snag this Razer Viper Ultimate mouse for less than half its usual price

£63 gets you both the mouse and the charging dock.

The Razer Viper Ultimate with charging dock is currently going for £62.99 at Amazon UK, which is a massive 58 percent off from its usual £149.99 price tag. This makes it cheaper than even some of Razer's more affordable wired mice, and is a fantastic deal for one of Digital Foundry's favourite mice for FPS games.

The Razer Viper Ultimate is one of the company's premium wireless mice. It uses Razer's Hyperspeed wireless technology, which basically makes the latency a non-issue and on par with some of the best wired mice out there. The Viper Ultimate also uses Razer's Focus+ optical sensor with an incredible 20,000 DPI and 650 IPS tracking speed. While you don't have to play at the full 20,000 DPI, it does mean the sensor will be extremely responsive at all settings, which is important for twitch shooters like Quake or more tactical fare like Counter-Strike.

The Razer Viper Ultimate is also outfitted with Razer's optical switches. These switches use an infrared beam of light instead of mechanical contact to register a click and operate at, well, the speed of light. And since there is no physical contact, it removes the need for a debounce delay and also gets rid of unintended clicks, something that does become an issue for regular mechanical switches over time. This means the Razer Viper Ultimate will not just be faster and more precise but also last much longer than regular mice.

Two of the more interesting aspects of the Razer Viper Ultimate relate to its design. First of all, the mouse is ambidextrous, which means you can use it with either hand and still be comfortable, complete with side buttons on both sides - so left-handers don't get short shrift. Second, it's very light, weighing in at just 74g, which is pretty impressive for a wireless mouse that doesn't have holes drilled all over it to reduce weight. The lightweight nature of this mouse made it our #3 pick for the best ultra-light mice of 2021 and the highest-rated wireless option in this category.

The version linked above comes with the charging dock, which normally costs much more than the version with the mouse alone. This is an extremely convenient accessory that lets you just place the mouse on the dock after you've exhausted its 70 hours of battery life. No longer do you have to mess around with cables, although that is still an option if you like. Razer do include a hyper-flexible cable in the box, so you still get a nearly wireless feel if you want to charge and play at the same time, but the dock is more convenient in most instances.

And finally, like most Razer products, the Razer Viper Ultimate features the company's Chroma RGB lighting, which can be controlled through the Razer Synapse 3 software. Not only is the lighting present on the logo and scroll wheel on the mouse but also alongside the edge of the charging dock, bathing your desk in a warm ambient glow - or optionally being completely extinguished if you're not into that RGB lifestyle.
