Digital Foundry's USA Prime Day Picks 2019 - Day 2

Deals on the best PC & gaming kit recommended by our experts.

We're back for the second day of Amazon Prime Day 2019 in the United States, bringing with it a hearty helping of deals on PC hardware, electronics and gaming peripherals. Here at Digital Foundry, we've been casting our weather eye over the proceedings to identify the best deals on the gaming kit that we've actually tried and tested. Thus far, we've found excellent deals on smartphones and tablets, memory cards and SSDs, monitors, graphics cards and all kinds of PC gaming peripherals.

Before we get into the deals, here's a heads-up: there's so much to cover this year that we've left out some categories, including tablets and gaming laptops. If you're in the market for any of these, take a look at these gaming and non-gaming laptops or laptops, desktops and tablets here. (If you want a sanity check on a potential deal, ask us in the comments and we'll get back to you!) With that said, on with the show!

Amazon Prime Day concludes tonight. We'll continue to add new deals as we find them, so check back here often. You can also follow us on Twitter @digitalfoundry for the highlights. We've also included a few deals from other stores, which are now running their own sales to compete with Amazon. With that out of the way, let's get into the deals.

Best Amazon Prime Day 4K TV deals

This is an insanely great deal on the best 4K TV for HDR gaming. Add the TV to your cart to get $548 off, then use code FOHTTK to knock off another $100. Expect stock to be exhausted quickly!

Best Amazon Prime Day Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch console deals

Here are the best console bundles we've found so far, including on the Xbox One S, PlayStation 4 Slim and Nintendo Switch. We're still on the lookout for Xbox One X deals, so let us know if you find any!

Best Amazon Prime Day CPU deals

It's rare to see significant CPU discounts on shopping holidays, but the Ryzen 7 2700X has been heavily reduced in the face of AMD's recent 3rd-gen Ryzen launch. The 2700X still offers good performance for the money, especially when it has been reduced from its $329 list price and $250 street price to just $200. The CPU comes with AMD's Wraith Prism cooler, too. You can also pick up the workstation-grade Threadripper 2950X, which boasts 16 cores and 32 threads that tear through content creation and other multi-threaded workloads.

Best Amazon Prime Day memory card deals

SanDisk's Ultra series of memory cards are among the best in the business, offering long-lasting performance and reliability. The 100MB/s read speeds of this Class 10 card make it a strong choice for the Nintendo Switch, action cams and smartphones, without being as expensive as faster U3 cards. SanDisk's Extreme memory cards offer even faster transfer speeds, albeit at lower capacities.

Best Amazon Prime Day monitor deals

We've found a couple of monitor deals worth recommending so far, including a 27-inch 4K monitor from LG. This monitor uses an IPS panel, so its colour reproduction is excellent and viewing angles are strong too. If you prefer something a bit better suited to fast-paced games, the Acer monitor we've highlighted below has an ultra-wide aspect ratio for maximum immersion and a silky-smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

Best Amazon Prime Day SSD, HDD and external drive deals

The highlight of Amazon's SSD deals so far is this SN750 drive from WD. We actually recommended this drive in our roundup of the best SSDs for gaming and content creation, noting that WD's drive would be more competitive if it saw a price cut. That price cut has now happened, so go nuts with one of the best-performing NVMe SSDs on the market. There's a 1TB model for $175 or a 500GB model with heatsink for $90. If capacity is more important to you than raw speed, SanDisk's 2TB 3D SSD for $193 is a great deal. There's even a 4TB (!) SSD for $400.

Internal hard drives have also been offered at a good discount, including models for desktop PCs (WD Black) and NAS systems (WD Red). We've also included a 2TB hybrid drive, which essentially includes a solid state cache to speed up a traditional hard drive.

External hard drives are also on sale. These are great for backing up your data to a second location or plugging into your Xbox One to add a ton of extra storage. For example, this 4TB Seagate external hard drive works on PC, Mac and Xbox One and costs just $99, while a 2TB model from WD works with the PlayStation 4 for $59. If you need to back up your extensive image or video collection, there's also a 10TB WD Elements drive - which should also be quite shuckable, if you're into that. The last item is a portable SSD, meaning it supports faster speeds - although it is limited by the USB 3.0 interface.

There are actually a ton of SanDisk and WD storage products discounted today, so take a look at the full sale for more ideas!

Best Amazon Prime Day graphics card deals

Best Amazon Prime Day microphone deals

Our current pic for the best gaming mic is on sale. The HyperX QuadCast includes a built-in pop filter and shock mount, four recording patterns to choose from and an easy touch on/off system. And of course, it glows bright red.

Best Amazon Prime Day headset deals

These headsets are all ranked among our favourites, with the wireless and multi-platform SteelSeries Arctis 7 being our pick for the best gaming headset overall. The HyperX Cloud Core and Cloud Pro gaming headsets are another strong choice, wired headsets that offer a comfortable fit and excellent audio reproduction. If you prefer a wireless option, the HyperX Cloud Stinger is another headset we recommend.

Best Amazon Prime Day keyboard and mice deals

The Razer Naga Trinity is one of the most flexible gaming mice on the planet, thanks to its hot-swappable side panels, each with their own button arrangement. It's our current pick for the best mouse for MMOs, and it's available at $55 today - almost 50 per cent off and the lowest price we've ever recorded. Logitech's stylish MX Master 2S and the affordable yet wireless Corsair Ironclaw have also been reduced substantially.

Another Razer product, the Huntsman opto-mechanical gaming keyboard, has also been recommended by Digital Foundry and comes at a steep discount. A pair of Corsair keyboards, the mid-level K68 and the flagship K70 MK.2, are also both on sale today. The latter is our pick for the best gaming keyboard, making this a good chance to get one of our favourite boards for almost half-price.

Best Amazon Prime Day smartphone, iPad and Apple Watch deals

It's rare to see any discounts on new Apple products, so we thought we'd spotlight these iPad and Apple Watch deals. Choose from the last-gen 10.5-inch iPad Pro, the latest iPad and Apple Watch Series 3/4 models at a steep discount.

If you prefer Android to Apple, recent Razer, Google and Samsung smartphones are also discounted today.

Stay tuned for more deals over the coming hours, and be sure to let us know on the comments or on Twitter @digitalfoundry if you find a good deal that isn't included here!

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. For more information, go here.
