Digital Foundry's UK Prime Day Picks 2019 - Day 2

Deals on the best PC & gaming kit recommended by our experts.

Amazon Prime Day 2019 has entered its second day, bringing with it new deals on PC hardware, electronics and gaming peripherals. Here at Digital Foundry, we've been casting our expert eyes over the cavalcade of non-comestible creations to identify the best deals on the gaming kit that we've tried, tested and recommend. Thus far, we've found excellent deals on smartphones and tablets, memory cards and SSDs, monitors and TVs, graphics cards and all kinds of PC gaming peripherals.

Remember that you can also take an additional 20 per cent off Amazon Warehouse items, which can be a great way to find some insane deals - like a £3200 8K monitor (!) for £2200. The most desirable items tend to sell out quickly, so take a look early and make out with what you can. The 20 per cent reduction will be made automatically at checkout, so keep that in mind. Another meta-deal is for new Audible members; if you sign up for a 30 day trial of Amazon's audiobook service you'll get a £10 Amazon voucher.

Amazon Prime Day is something of a misnomer, as this is the second day of the sale, but it will end at midnight tonight and we can all get on with our lives. Until then, we'll continue to add new deals as we find them, so check back here often. You can also follow us on Twitter @digitalfoundry for the highlights. With that out of the way, let's get into the deals.

Best Amazon Prime Day Xbox, PS4 and Switch console deals

So far the best console deal is for the Xbox One S. For £170, you get the 1TB version of the console, a second controller and four games including Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 3 and FIFA 19. If you're looking for a Switch instead, the best deal we've found is a pack that comes with Mario & Rabbids, £30 eShop credit and an extra Joy-Con in Neon - all for £290.

Best Amazon Prime Day memory card deals

SanDisk's Ultra series of memory cards are among the best in the business, offering long-lasting performance and reliability. The 100MB/s read speeds of this Class 10 card make it a strong choice for the Nintendo Switch, action cams and smartphones, without being as expensive as faster U3 cards. Choose a special 128GB Nintendo-licensed card at £18, or a non-branded alternative for a little less. There's also a massive 400GB card on offer that offers better value than bleeding-edge 512GB cards at a best-ever price.

Best Amazon Prime Day 4K HDR TV deals

Just one great TV deal so far, on a 55-inch Philips OLED. This 2017 model got extremely positive reviews on release, thanks to its impressive image quality and excellent contrast. At less than half its launch price it certainly offers great value in 2019.

Best Amazon Prime Day monitor deals

A trio of monitor deals here, including our previous pick for the best gaming monitor: the Acer Predator XB271HU. This is a monitor sitting on the desk of at least one Digital Foundry writer, thanks to its combination of a colour-accurate and pixel-dense 2560 by 1440 IPS screen, extremely fast response times from its 165Hz refresh rate and full G-Sync support for Nvidia graphics cards. If you're gaming on the Xbox One (or PC), we like 4K FreeSync monitors like the EL2870U and LG 27UK650. Also involved in the Prime Day deals are two Samsung monitors, a 32-inch 4K model and a 34-inch ultrawide.

Best Amazon Prime Day SSD and HDD deals

External hard drives are also on sale. These are great for backing up your data to a second location or plugging into your Xbox One to add a ton of extra storage. For example, this 5TB Seagate external hard drive works on PC, Mac and Xbox One and costs just £87.

Best Amazon Prime Day graphics card deals

We have two new graphics card deals for Tuesday, including a GTX 1660 Ti and an RTX 2060, both from Asus. These models both come with hefty cooling solutions and a lot of fans, making them ideal targets for overclocking. You can visit our GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 benchmark pages to see how they perform in a selection of the latest games. Yesterday's superlative RX 580 deal is also still available.

Best Amazon Prime Day headset deals

These three headsets are all ranked among our favourites, with the wireless and multi-platform SteelSeries Arctis 7 being our pick for the best gaming headset overall. The HyperX Cloud Alpha and Cloud Pro are strong wired headsets, offering a comfortable fit and excellent audio reproduction.

Best Amazon Prime Day mechanical and gaming keyboard deals

A host of Razer, Corsair and HyperX mechanical gaming keyboards are on sale today. There's also the Razer Ornata Chroma, a non-mechanical keyboard that nonetheless offers a fun typing and gaming experience with its quiet switches.

Best Amazon Prime Day mouse deals

There are a good range of gaming mice available here, including wired and wireless options. If you play MMOs or just like a lot of buttons on your mouse, then the Corsair Scimitar Pro is worth a special look.

Best Amazon Prime Day RAM deals

RAM is something of a commodity, so finding a deep discount is rare. This Crucial Ballistix Sport LT memory is rated at 3200MHz, making it a good choice for frequency-sensitive AMD Ryzen platforms, but it will work great in Intel systems too. Be sure to check your motherboard specs to make sure that your rig can handle memory this fast!

Best Amazon Prime Day iPhone, iPad and smartphone deals

It's rare to see any discounts on new Apple products, so we thought we'd spotlight these iPhone and iPad deals. Our top recommendation is the iPhone XR, the best value iPhone on the market as it offers 95% of the features and 100% of the horsepower of the iPhone XS and XS Max at a much lower price. Pretty much the only thing of value you're giving up is the second rear-facing camera, which a lot of people can do without when it means you're paying hundreds of pounds less. Amazon are also offering discounts on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and older iPhones and iPads too, so take a look.

The latest smartphones from Huawei, Honor, Nokia, Samsung, OnePlus and more are also discounted today.

Stay tuned for more deals over the coming hours!
