Destiny 2 Traveler's Chosen quest steps: How to complete every Exodus Evacuation quest step

How to get the Season of Arrivals Exotic sidearm.

Destiny 2's Traveler's Chosen is an Exotic quest available during Year 3's Season of Arrivals.

Released on September 8th, 2020, following the conclusion of Solstice of Heroes, the Exodus: Evacuation quest offers a last hurrah for several destinations leaving the game with the arrival of Beyond Light in November.

It's a very straightforward series of steps with little challenge, but no doubt a lengthy process - comprising of visiting Io, Titan, Mars and Mercury and completing various planetary activities. There's a lot to do, so consider it a good excuse to revisit destinations we won't be able to encounter again once the season ends.

The rewards are, however, well worth it; completing the quests not only gives you an Exotic needed to complete this year's Moments of Triumph, but it also gives you guaranteed access to hard-to-find Nightfall-specific weapons which you might have missed over the years.

How to get Traveler's Chosen in Destiny 2 in brief

Here's a quick rundown of the steps needed to obtain Traveler's Chosen:

  3. Start the Exodus: Evacuation quest from Zavala in the Tower
  4. Visit Ashir Mir on Io and complete a Lost Sector, Strike and Heroic Adventure
  5. Visit Sloane on Titan and complete a Lost Sector, open three enemy chests and complete a Strike
  6. Visit Zavala in the Tower for a mid-quest reward
  7. Visit Brother Vance on Mercury and complete two Strikes and a Heroic Adventure

Once the above is done, Traveler's Chosen is yours. Thanks to KackisHD on YouTube for filling out some of the above steps:

How to start the Exodus: Evacuation quest in Destiny 2

The Exodus quest - which concludes in receiving Traveler's Chosen - started with Exodus: Evacuation, a quest chain first available with Season of Arrivals back in July 2020.

After visiting Zavala in the Tower, you have to visit the four vendors of Io, Titan, Mars and Mercury - the four places where the Darkness is invading, and will be disappearing from the game with the arrival of the Beyond Light expansion in November.

Each quest step has you visit each vendor and complete a Weekly Bounty. This is the two left-most bounties on the bounty selection screen, with the objectives changing each week - such as performing specific types of kills, completing Lost Sectors or Strikes, and so on.

If any of them are too difficult or long winded, you could simply wait until the following week. All are achievable solo, however, and once done, return to that vendor, then visit the next planet mentioned in the quest, until you return back to Zavala in the Tower.

Once you have completed the Exodus: Preparation quest, the Exodus: Evacuation segment will be available. This first appeared in the game on September 8th, 2020.

Visit Zavala again, and he'll direct you to the four planetary vendors. This time, each one will have more involved quests to complete. Stock up on Bounties from the Tower to get some extra XP alongside the impending busywork, and let's get going.

How to complete Io's Exodus: Evacuation quest steps and find the Unexpected Guests Heroic location

On Io, Asher Mir's quest steps are as follows:

  • Complete the Sanctum of Bones Lost Sector, kill the Taken Phalanx Barrism along the way, and collect 25 Trace of Corruption from Taken on Io

This essentially has you run the Sanctum of Bones Lost Sector. This is located just opposite Asher Mir, and you will complete the other two steps along the way.

  • Complete The Pyramidion Strike and collect 40 Scan Traces from defeating Vex on Io

On Io's map screen, simply select the Pyramidion Strike and complete it. You should kill 40 Vex in the process, but if you have any left over, jump back into Patrol and find Vex until you have enough.

  • Complete the Unexpected Guests (Heroic) Adventure on Io

This Adventure is found on Io's map / director screen - it's a large blue icon on the left side, near where you can start The Whisper mission. Easily missed!

The Adventure itself is pretty straightforward and can be soloed with few problems.

Once done, visit Asher Mir to collect the Silicon Neuroma sniper rifle. This usually has a chance of dropping from The Pyramidion when it's a Nightfall Strike, so consider this a guaranteed way to get it before that Strike is vaulted.

With that done, it's time to head to Titan.

How to complete Titan's Exodus: Evacuation quest steps and

Once you are done with Io, it's time to visit Sloane on Titan.

The quest steps are as follows:

  • Complete the Methane Flush Lost Sector and defeat the Hive Knight Dek-Thra within

This is a simple case of clearing out the Methane Flush Lost Sector and the bonus Knight within.

  • Open 1x chest in the Solarium and 2x chests in Festering Halls, both guarded by Hive Ultras

These two areas are to the far east of the patrol space. You are looking for three yellow bar enemies in these two areas.

As you go, there are objective markers indicating the location of each enemy, making it obvious they are there. Defeating each one spawns a chest. Do all three to complete this step.

  • Complete the Savathun's Song Strike and collect 25 Tech Fragments from Ogres, Wizards and Knights

Speaking of which - you have to run the Savathun's Song Strike to finish off the Titan set of Exodus quests. By the end, you should have completed the secondary objective as well.

If you don't, then just return to the Patrol space and find them in the wild to get everything you need.

Once done, return to Sloane to collect the Duty Bound auto rifle. This usually has a chance of dropping from Savathun's Song when it's a Nightfall Strike, so consider this a guaranteed way to get it before that Strike is vaulted.

Before you head to Mars, you need to return to Zavala in the Tower, who will give you the Mindbender's Ambition Masterworked shotgun. This is another Nightfall exclusive drop for The Hollowed Lair strike.

Next, it's time to visit Mercury.

How to complete Mercury's Exodus: Evacuation quest steps

With Titan and a visit to Zavala sorted, head to Brother Vance, the vendor of Mercury, who will give you the following quest steps.

  • Complete the Garden World Strike and collect 15 Timeline Fractures from Hydras, Minotaurs and Cyclopses on Mercury

This is the same deal as previous patrol areas - choose the Strike from the Director screen, and you should get all the drops from enemies by the time it ends.

  • Complete the Tree of Probabilities Strike and collect 40 Traces of Osiris from Cabal on Mercury

Same deal again - run the Strike, and you should the secondary objective clearing enemies as you go.

  • Complete the Heroic Adventure Bug in the System

Like with the Heroic Adventure on Io, this will be a unique objective on the Director screen.

Once done, return to Brother Vance to collect the D.F.A. hand cannon. This usually has a chance of dropping from Tree of Probabilities when it's a Nightfall Strike, so consider this a guaranteed way to get it before that Strike is vaulted.

No Zavala visit this time - time to head straight to Mars.

How to complete Mars's Exodus: Evacuation quest steps

Visit Mars vendor Ana Bray, who will give you the following steps in order.

  • Investigate Mindlab: Rasputin for a signal from Rasputin.

This has you scan a specific location within Mindlab: Rasputin - the area just past where you'll find Ana Bray. Here is 360GameTV on YouTube with the exact location you need to go:

  • Defeat five bosses within Escalation Protocol to receive Rasputin Frame Pieces

This one is fairly simple - defeat the boss at the end of a Escalation Protocol level; any level will do, just do five of them. Additionally, at the time of writing, there is a bug where you can take down certain yellow bar enemies on Mars, such as Wanted enemies, which will count for this objective (thanks Vuki486 on reddit for pointing this out).

  • Complete the Heroic Adventure Deathly Tremors

The final step has you complete another Heroic Adventure. Again, you can find the objective from the Director screen.

Once done, return to Ana Bray to collect the Braytech Osprey rocket launcher. This usually has a chance of dropping from Strange Terrain when it's a Nightfall Strike, so consider this a guaranteed way to get it before that Strike is vaulted.

Now head to the Tower one final time, to get your hands on the Traveler's Chosen Exotic from Zavala. Nicely done!
