Crimson Skies 2

How wide do you want the sky?

Microsoft is remaining quiet on rumours that Crimson Skies 2 is in development.

The propellers started turning when the April edition of OXM magazine included a piece about the five biggest games we're not supposed to know about. One of them was Crimson Skies 2.

Apparently we don't know about it because Microsoft already has too many big titles on its release schedule. Once it dies down we'll hear about the game that is supposedly due to make an appearance in late 2008 or early 2009.

Also adding fuel to the rumour engine are clues on the website of Airtight Games - developer of Crimson Skies on Xbox. Here it states quite clearly it's working on high profile project with a leading publisher and is hiring more staff to work on a PC and next-generation console title.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge was released on Xbox in 2003. It was a surprise hit for the system and proved to be a jolly good crack in multiplayer.
